Access to Capital Workshop & Panel

Access to Capital Workshop & Panel

Gain insights on grants, funding, resources and more for your business from the SBA

What the SBA Does

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is a federal agency dedicated to helping small businesses succeed. They provide:

  • Access to Capital – SBA doesn’t usually lend directly but partners with banks, credit unions, and lenders to help small businesses secure funding with favorable terms. Programs include 7(a) loans, 504 loans, and microloans.

  • Counseling & Training – Through local Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), Women’s Business Centers, and SCORE mentors, entrepreneurs can get free or low-cost business advising and workshops.

  • Federal Contracting Opportunities – SBA helps small businesses compete for government contracts through set-aside programs, certification (e.g., 8(a), HUBZone, Women-Owned, Veteran-Owned), and training.

  • Disaster Assistance – Provides low-interest loans to businesses, homeowners, and renters impacted by declared disasters.

  • Advocacy – SBA works to ensure that the interests of small businesses are represented in federal policymaking.
