Glendora Tartan Band and Pageantry Marches with Pride in Nation’s Capital on July 4th

Over the Fourth of July holiday, 98 student performers from the Glendora Tartan Marching Band and Pageantry proudly represented their hometown and state on the national stage as they marched in America’s National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C.

Held annually on Constitution Avenue in the heart of the nation’s capital, the parade began at 11:45 a.m. on July 4 and featured a dazzling lineup of high school marching bands from across the country, along with floats, military units, VIPs, celebrity guests, and patriotic fanfare. Spanning from 7th to 17th Street NW, the route welcomed a live audience of thousands, making it one of the most widely attended Independence Day events in the country.

The Glendora Tartan Band and Pageantry earned this coveted invitation after being nominated by Congresswoman Judy Chu and selected by the National Independence Day Parade committee for their excellence in musical and visual performance, school spirit, and community involvement. The students and booster club spent the past year fundraising, rehearsing, and preparing for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform on one of America’s most historic avenues.

“It was an unforgettable experience to march in the shadow of the Washington Monument, with the Capitol in view, surrounded by fellow Americans celebrating the birth of our nation,” said Erick Quintanilla, Director of Bands. “Our students represented Glendora with honor, discipline, and immense pride.”

The National Independence Day Parade is more than a spectacle — it is a celebration of the values that define the United States. It aims to remind the nation of the deeper meaning behind the holiday through music, movement, and the American spirit.

The Glendora community is immensely proud of the Tartan Band and Pageantry students, staff, and families who made this journey possible and showcased the city on a national platform. We’d also like to thank your major sponsors, the City of Glendora and Athens Services along with Art & Sarah Ludwick, Sheryl Hill, Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio, L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Foothill Gold Line, Walmart & Sams Club of Glendora, and many more.
